Solar Grants for Businesses in Ireland

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) offers Commercial Solar PV Grants of up to €162,600 to help businesses transition to renewable energy. These grants significantly reduce the upfront costs of installing solar PV systems, making it easier for companies to adopt clean energy solutions. By switching to solar power, businesses can cut electricity expenses, reduce their carbon footprint, and strengthen their commitment to sustainability. Beyond cost savings, investing in solar contributes to energy independence, enhances long-term financial stability, and supports Ireland’s transition to a greener economy.

About the SEAI Solar Grant for Businesses

The Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG) provides financial support for businesses and organizations to install solar PV panels, allowing them to generate electricity on-site. This reduces energy costs, increases security of supply, and improves a company's sustainability profile. The grant is available for systems up to 1000kWp, making it suitable for businesses of all sizes.

The application process

  • Get your quote

Energy Management Ireland can provide a quote for the installation, and once we have agreed a contract we will be able to help you move on to the next step.

  • Apply to SEAI for grant offer

Apply for your grant and wait for your grant offer – we can’t start works until you have received the grant offer, which is valid for eight months.

  • We apply to ESB Networks

When we are ready to start work, we will apply to ESB Networks so that the solar PV system can be connected to the electricity network. This application process takes at least 4 weeks / 20 working days.

  • Installation of your solar PV panels

Once the application to ESB Networks has cleared, we will be able to commence the installation of your solar PV system.

  • Building Energy Rating (BER) assessment

After the installation is complete, a BER assessor will need to evaluate the energy efficiency and publish the BER before your grant can be processed.

  • We send evidence of works to SEAI

We will submit the documentation to SEAI electronically and provide you with a copy for your own records.

  • SEAI process the claim

With the evidence sent to SEAI, and the BER completed, SEAI will be able to process your grant claim. This usually takes between 4 to 6 weeks for payment to be released.
